Group Asks FG To Declare Anambra Oil Producing State

The Oil and Solid Mineral Producing Area Landlord’s Association of Nigeria, OMPALAN, has called on Federal Government to accord Anambra State full status of an oil producing state.

The Association admonished the Nigerian state to treat oil block allocation with utmost sincerity and openness; this is in order to make sure the process is not hijacked by political manipulation.

The call is contained in an address delivered by Mr. Udo Azogu, a Bishop, and the Chairman, Board of Trustees and National Leaders of OMPALAN at the inauguration of Anambra State chapter of the association.

The association argues that the call has become imperative in order for host communities to access and enjoy all the derivatives and benefits that accrue to them and the state from the exploration of their natural resources.

They called on oil stakeholders, federal, state and local government, security agencies, oil companies and host communities to support their call.

The association thanked the government for encompassing approach that is consolidating the current peace process in oil and gas producing states. And recommended adopting the model as a working tool for solid minerals development.

If further, used the opportunity to call on all the ethnic groups to shun hate speech and work for the unity of Nigerian state.
