2016 Solid Mineral Production In Nigeria At A Glance

The National Bureau of Statistics report on the States Disaggregated Mining and Quarrying Data for 2016 shows Nigeria produced 43,495,423.12 tons of solid minerals in 2016.

This proves the country can generate reasonable revenue from the mining sector if the needed investments and reforms are done.

This is an indication that PWYP -Nigeria needs to step up its campaign in the extractive sector transparency and accountability, with a core focus on the mining sector. This is most fundamental, particularly the fact that over the years, attention has been on the oil and gas sector with a little focus on the mining sector.

This report has opened a new chapter for PWYP-Nigeria to start a more tailored engagement with the mining sector.
